Your Monday Muse featuring Riley Clemmons_October 2021

It’s easy to look at social media and think that everyone else around you is having the time of their lives, that they’re “making it”, and that you are alone in your struggles.

But, as we are often reminded, you can’t compare your reality to their highlight reel. That’s an unfair battle that is not founded on truth

When we look at the world around us through the lens of social media, we don’t know what they aren’t sharing, what’s going on behind the scenes, what they are struggling with outside of photos and posts.

They may have gotten hard health news.

They might be needing to find a place to live.

They may have lost a loved one.

They may be struggling in school.

They might feel alone or scared.

You see, there is a battle raging. A battle for our hearts and minds, for our families and our joy.

The enemy wants you to feel inferior and broken.

The world wants you to think you need more likes, more money, more things.

But, God says He loves you as you are.

You don’t have to compare your life to others.

God says He made you in His image.

You don’t need to be picture perfect.

God says He fights for you every day.

You don’t have to be afraid.

Put down you phone, close your computer, and take a deep breath.

He is for you today and tomorrow.

“The Lord will fight for you”—Exodus 14:14

Dear Jesus, today we feel like we don’t measure up. We’re struggling to find peace in who you made us to be. Please bring truth to our hearts and help us fight the battle over our thoughts. You love us like no one else and you are walking with us each minute of each hour of every day. Thank you for carrying us through the tough moments and giving us grace when we mess up. We love you, Lord! Amen.
