YOUR MONDAY MUSE featuring CORY ASBURY_September 2021
A birthday is a time to celebrate the efforts of your previous year as well as a time to contemplate and look ahead to the things that are coming in the next year. This year, as Little Lamb Books celebrates turning 6, we are not only looking at the last five years and all we’ve accomplished, but we’ve also been considering where we are headed.
As a company, we have seen our share of struggles over the past year. When the pandemic first started, we didn’t know what we were facing, but as the last twelve months have passed, we see that COVID-19 made a much bigger impact than we could ever have anticipated, and we have faced a variety of challenges. And, as we have considered what the next year will bring, we realize that a new normal is taking place and changes are in order.
As a rule, change can be hard – emotionally, mentally, and financially. Every time we feel ourselves moving forward there are often a few steps backward. Authors move on and staff changes. Queries come and go, and title release dates change. Distribution, shipping and manufacturing have all experienced difficulties with paper shortages, shipping delays, and more. Many of these hurdles are out of our hands. We realize that change is necessary for growth, but it’s not always easy.
Yet, we know God has us in the palms of His hands and knows exactly what we need. We are relying on God to give us wisdom, and while we have no intention of shutting our doors, we are choosing to slow things down a bit, reorganize our current business structure, but continue in our mission to shepherd the next generation of young readers by seeking out quality faith-based fiction and non-fiction.
We started sharing music that inspired and encouraged us in 2015. While Your Monday Muse has changed in presentation and title, we know that scripture and songs that worship God help our week start off well, and we hope that by sharing it with you, it is helping your week start off strong.
Our God knows the number of hairs on our head. He knows what the birds need to eat. He sees the amount of rain the flowers need. He is aware of our circumstances, and He will take good care of all of us today, tomorrow, and next year!
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7
Dear Good Shepherd, Thank you for the amazing books we have released and the wonderful authors we’ve worked with over the past five years. We are so thankful for the editors, illustrators, and designers that have been a part of our team. Lord, we ask that you would give us wisdom in our future decisions, joy in the journey, and patience as we take each step forward. No matter the circumstances around us, we know you will continue to provide for our business. We praise YOU for the changes you are doing in us and through us. Amen.
