When you think about love, what comes to mind?

Is it the passionate romance of newlyweds?

Is it the quiet loyalty in a couple that’s been together for fifty years?

Is it the selflessness of a parent for their child? Is it the laughter between best friends?

Whatever that pinnacle of love is, hold it in your mind. Now try to imagine a love 10, 100, or 1,000,000 times stronger and more intense than that.

That love, the one that you can barely even imagine, is only a glimpse of the love our Father in heaven has for us.

For a person to love something so intensely and impossibly would be reckless. Reckless and dangerous.

This love is so much bigger than anything we can even imagine, and yet, it is the one that God feels for us.

We don’t deserve that love. We have done nothing to earn that love. We can’t give Him that love in return.

And yet, He loves us like that anyway.

“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39

Dear Jesus, Thank you for your amazing, unconditional love. Even though I know I don’t have to do anything to earn it, I struggle sometimes with feeling inadequate or unworthy. But, you love me regardless of my failures or successes and whether or not I’m wearing sweats and t-shirt or I’m dressed in my Sunday best. You love me God because I am your child. You made me. You know me. And, nothing can separate me from you. Thank you! Amen.
