Your Monday Muse from Chris Tomlin ft. Lady A_November 16

I love names, and growing up, I loved knowing the meaning behind names, the history, the story. This extended to the names of Jesus as well.

When I was a little girl, I would lay on the floor near the kitchen while my Mom was cooking and I would take out my Bible and I would make columns on notebook paper of all the names for Jesus I could find. Then, I would read them to my mom or ask about the story or get absorbed in reading more about them in the Bible verses that I would be reading through on my own. To this day, my Mom still has those lists, and while over the years my handwriting has changed, I still love learning people’s names and hearing their stories and knowing their meanings. There’s something so personal and depth to those meanings.

And, I daily lean into the names of Jesus to keep me centered and focuses on the meaning behind my work and the purpose I’ve been called to do each day.

Heavenly Father.

As I prepare for this week, I’m so grateful to have those names for Jesus in my heart and to know that whoever I need Him to be, He already is and He loves me in small and big ways.

“For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus.” I Timothy 2:5

Dear Jesus,

As we go into a new week, I thank you Lord for showing me who you are everyday. No matter my circumstances, I praise you Lord for your blessings and your mercy, your kindness and your love. I give your my minutes, my hours, and my days and ask for your strength and wisdom as I make big and small decisions that impact my family, my work, my friendships, and more. Thank you Lord! Amen.
