Little Lamb Books Fifth Year Goals

This weekend we celebrated our FIFTH birthday, and it has been such a blessing to reach this important milestone. Of course, while celebrating a birthday, you not only look back at previous achievements, but also look forward with hope as you set new goals. We’ve been praying (Matthew 6:33) and planning (Proverbs 24:27) over the past few months and are laying the foundation for what the next twelve months will look like for Little Lamb Books as we face the holiday season, a presidential election, racial reconciliation, and continued recovery from COVID-19. It’s an unprecedented time of change, strife, and challenges on all sides.

For our part, we are looking forward with optimism and hope. The Lord our God is a good, good Father, and as our Shepherd, and we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose.” Proverbs 27:23

Here are some of the plans we have either already begun planning for the last quarter of 2020 and begin laying the groundwork for 2021.

I. Change to our Submissions Guidelines

Since our launch in 2015, we have been open to submissions from authors represented by agents as well as those without agents. We enjoy reading the queries and learning of amazing stories that are being crafted. However, our submissions box has been overflowing and we have struggled to be able to reply in a timely manner to every query. In order to make things better, we have decided to change when we are open to submissions. Starting now, agented and unaccented authors may submit queries in the months of February, June, and November only. Any queries received outside of those months will not be considered, so please plan accordingly.

II. Scribbler’s Symposium

It started as a desire to bring our authors together face to face for learning and connection. Then, God opened a door to partner with a fellow publisher and together we have developed the Scribbler’s Symposium, a 2-day workshop for children’s authors workshop dedicated to teaching the practical skills, best writing practices, marketing techniques, and insider strategies that children’s writers need to fulfill their dream of being a published writer.

III. Little Lamb Books Presents Program

It has been our desire from the start to give back to our community, but it has taken time to determine the best way for us to share our love of reading with those who need it most. To that end, we are implementing our first-ever donation program called Little Lamb Books Presents. Starting January 1, 2021, we will begin accepting nominations for schools, churches, literacy programs, children’s hospitals, and non-profits that would benefit from receiving a bundle of Little Lamb Books titles.

IV. First Devotional

We are super excited to announce that our very first in-house devotional will be released Spring 2021. The 60 Days of Devotions for Children is a collection of entries from a variety of authors, including our own roster of talented writers and includes a journal prompt, scripture reading, prayer, and message focused on character values for families to read together mornings or evenings.

In additional to the above-mentioned items, we will be investing in brand new educational materials, our online shop and website updates, book trailers, internships, and more. It’s a challenging time to be in the publishing industry, but it’s a joy to produce amazing stories that encourage a child’s faith and builds on a foundation of family values. God has called us to build on this legacy and continue to stand firm as we pursue Him in all things.

We are so thankful to be turning FIVE, and hope you will journey with us in this new year of our journey.
