Your Monday Muse December 2019-Chris Tomlin (ft. Lauren Daigle)

According to Merrium Webster, the word Noel is French, and “it can be traced further back to the Latin word natalis, which can mean “birthday” as a noun or “of or relating to birth” as an adjective.”

How lovely to know that when we sing the Christmas carol The First Noel, we are quite literally singing about and celebrating the first birthday of the Jesus, the Light of the World, our Emmanuel.

The First Noel, the Angels did say
Was to certain poor shepherds in fields as they lay
In fields where they lay keeping their sheep
On a cold winter’s night that was so deep
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel
Born is the King of Israel!

Merry Christmas!
