Happy 4th Birthday, Little Lamb Books!
Hip, Hip Hooray! It’s time to bake a cake and toss around some confetti and streamers because it’s our FOURTH birthday!
Four years ago today, Little Lamb Books was founded with the mission of creating entertaining and inspiring faith-based fiction for middle grade and young adult readers. Six months later we tweaked our mission to include elementary fiction as well as non-fiction, and by our first birthday we signed our first author (Thank you Shelly!).
Fast forward to today, and we are still committed to that goal and are doing everything we can to partner with authors of amazing stories that combine fun and faith, and to bring those stories to bookshelves across the country for parents and kids ages 5-18.
With 13 authors currently on our roster, we have six books (four picture books, one early reader chapter book, and one young adult novel) available to purchase now. There are three more titles releasing this year (God’s Blessings of Fall and Kind Soup) and approximately five more arriving in 2020. Of the four books that released before 2019, all four have won multiple regional and national awards. What an absolute blessing!
Of course, our progress over the past four years has, at times, been a bit rocky. Nobody can get it right 100% of the time, and as we’ve strived to fortify our company, we’ve had some amazing accomplishments (hello #FaithPitch, we’re looking at you!) mixed with our fair share of growing pains, book delays, and contractor changes, including a new-to-us distribution company this summer (more on that next week).
As we look ahead, we have a variety of new ideas to work into our schedule, including that new webinar we mentioned last year and a writer’s workshop that hasn’t quite gotten off the ground yet while still growing current and on-going projects, like our newsletter subscription, YouTube channel, conference and trade show attendance, The Arrow Awards, and more.
Little Lamb Books is a part of an ever-changing publishing industry, which makes our rapid growth over the past 48 months both exhilarating and challenging. I am constantly praying and leaning into our Heavenly Father, and asking Him for wisdom and courage to continue moving forward as we build a legacy of literacy and faith for the next generation.
I’m so thankful to our customers, supporters, authors, illustrators, and those that believe in what we are working so hard to achieve. We are blessed by the graphic designers, printers, marketers, accounting, and legal team that help us run our business. As a company, we appreciate your prayers and continued support, and we are super excited about all the Lord has in store for us as a publisher of Christian children’s literature.
Happy 4th Birthday, Little Lamb Books! May your next year be the best one yet!
