Happy Birthday to…Us!

What a difference one year makes!

Yes, ONE year ago today, Little Lamb Books officially launched into the publishing industry.

12 months ago, we threw open our doors and invited authors of picture books and middle grade or young adult novels to begin submitting to us.

364 days ago, we introduced our logo, our mission statement, and our desire to make an impact on young readers around the world.

And, what a first year it has been!

We started 2015 by launching our website, www.littlelambbooks.com, and establishing our social media presence on Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest. We also chose to become members of the literary community through The Independent Book Publishing Association (IBPA) and the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI), both prestigious groups that educate and encourage authors, illustrators, and publishers.

We were honored to attend and sponsor a table at the Barbara Bush Foundation’s Celebration of Reading in October 2015. We also enjoyed (and shivered a little bit) being a silver sponsor of the I Am Second Run in November. Both events allowed us to meet readers of all ages within our community.

We also visited with local writers’ groups and school librarians, attended RT Booklovers Convention in Dallas and the DFW Writers Conference in Fort Worth, where we spoke on Faith in YA Fiction, and we regularly searched for new talent within our submissions as well as by participating in several Twitter pitch parties throughout the year.

The growth has not been quick nor has it been without some growing pains, but we are so blessed by what God is doing with our little company, and we are excited about the plans we are making for our second year, including some website changes, more attendance at conferences, and, of course, the most important thing, books! We can’t wait to start revealing our catalog of books, including our first picture book and author (Hi Shelly!).

Our mission statement is quite simple. We want to publish faith-based stories for elementary, middle grade and young adult readers that will delight them, inspire them, and encourage them as walk out their faith on a daily basis and as they grow from a kindergartner just learning to read to a well-versed teen reader ready to face the the world.

We can’t wait to share more with you soon, so stay tuned…and don’t forget to eat some cake!

Happy Birthday Little Lamb Books! I’m so proud of you!

All Our Lambie Love,
