As we move into the holiday season, it’s easy to run dry, to feel overwhelmed, to want to burrow in our beds and keep the covers over our heads. It’s also easy to get fed up with relatives and friends asking questions, talking politics, fighting and competing.
Let’s promise that in the days to come we’ll remember how deep and wide God’s love is for each of us, and how the holidays are not about competition, being perfect, or feeling shame. Let’s draw together and offer hope, share joy, extend grace, and give love to everyone around us. Right now isn’t the only time, but it’s a great time to extend kindness and to give thanks that Jesus is our portion. He alone can fill us up, carry us through, and bring us peace that passes all understanding. No meal, no present, no person can give us what He alone can give us.
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13 (NIV)
